Important Updates for curbside and in-person appointments!

Update: June 10th 2021

We are excited to announce beginning Monday, June 14th we will start offering some in-person
appointments. Curbside appointments are still an option if you prefer to remain in your vehicle
for the duration of your visit. Due to cleaning protocols that will be instituted to ensure
everyone’s safety, as well as our limited number of exam rooms, in-person appointments are not
guaranteed. Available in-person appointments will be limited to start with, so we recommend
scheduling your pet’s wellness exam several weeks in advance.

Please be mindful that not all of our staff members have been able to receive the Covid-19
vaccination due to underlying health conditions, and we do also have a few staff members that
are immunocompromised. For everyone’s safety, we ask that if you do schedule an in-person
appointment, you wear your face mask for the duration of the time you are in our facility
(regardless of your personal vaccination status) as well as make every effort to maintain social

We will transition back to inside service in phases. Thank you in advance for your patience as
we iron out the inevitable kinks that are bound to occur. During this first phase, our goal is to
keep our reception area clear at all times and minimize the time each person is in the building
with their pet(s). When you arrive, please call or text us that you are in the parking lot and we
will notify you when we have an exam room available.

We request only one family member accompany pets for the appointment. Let us know if you
need help getting to and from the car! Once in the exam room, please stay seated and properly
masked during your visit with the doctor and their assistants. (A reminder that patients are often
taken out of the exam room for services such as lab sample collections, anal gland expressions,
nail trims, x-rays, etc.). A team member will also gather any preventatives, medications or
supplements you may need and process your payment at the end of the visit while you remain
in the exam room.

While we will disinfect surfaces between appointments, know that the turnover time may be
short and the building's HVAC system is shared between all exam rooms. If you are
uncomfortable sharing building air space with the general public, we recommend continuing to
choose our curbside service.

For now, curbside service will continue for all other services including:
  • Emergency exams and work-ins
  • Exams scheduled as drop-offs, including surgical or dental drop-offs, and pick-ups
  • Technician/paraprofessional appointments
  • Medication and prescription diet pick-ups (please give a 24 hour notice prior to picking up!)
  • Specimen sample drop-offs

We thank each of you for your flexibility and grace as we have navigated curbside service for
the past 14 months. While we are appreciative of the extra steps and sunshine this system has
afforded our support team, we are very much ready to settle back into a more traditional

Please note: Changes to hospital hours and discontinuing of Boarding Services:

Back in February, we decided to be closed on Saturdays and temporarily stopped routine overnight boarding. For now we will continue to keep these changes in place. Our office hours are Monday through Friday 7:30am - 6:00pm. We will still offer daycare and bathing services. We understand these changes may be inconvenient and  can provide recommendations for other boarding facilities or petsitters. If you rely on Saturday hours for picking up medications or supplies, please ask a team member about our home delivery pharmacy options!.

At Sedgefield Animal Hospital and Dental Center

Your pets aren't just "patients", they're FAMILY!

Sedgefield Animal Hospital and Dental Center (SAHDC) is a well-established, full- service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care to Greensboro, Jamestown, High Point, North Carolina and surrounding areas. At SAHDC we strive to offer not only sound advice, but also optimal veterinary care, thus allowing you the enjoyment of your companion for a maximum number of years. Our job is not only to treat your pet when he or she isn't feeling well, but also to help you learn how to keep your best friend happy and healthy.

As you are probably aware our pets age more rapidly that we do, yet have you considered what this means for your pet’s health and quality of life?  Diseases in domestic animals progress 6-10 times more rapidly than humans because their aging process is 6-10 times more rapid.  Therefore, as your pet ages, more frequent evaluations are necessary.

We know that you wouldn’t see your doctor once every 6-10 years.  This is why it is critically important that pets come in for a physical exam a minimum of 1-2 times every year. Skipping a year (or even going a few months over) might prevent us from detecting or preventing of some of the following health challenges in a timely manner.

What are the most commonly found health challenges of pets?

  • Cancer
  •  Dental Disease
  •  Arthritis
  •  Allergies
  • Ear Conditions
  • Skin Problems
  • Liver Disease
  • Heart Disease
  • Kidney Disease
  • Diabetes Mellitus
  • Obesity Related Problems
  • Disease Related Behavioral Changes
  • Hyper/Hypothyroidism
  • Eye Diseases (Glaucoma, Cataracts)

We know that you want to keep your pet as healthy as possible, for as long as possible. That is why we are committed to proactive care; it can have a significant positive impact on your pet’s long term health and quality of life.  The sooner a medical problem is detected the more likely the condition can be resolved or treated easily. Severe conditions eventually become untreatable and irreversible. Pain and discomfort get worse as a condition becomes more severe, meaning your pet might ‘suffer in silence; they can’t communicate that to you.

At Sedgefield Animal Hospital & Dental Center we believe in partnering with you to create a unique comprehensive and holistic approach to your pet’s care.  The results of early detection testing are combined with our physical exam findings and your observations of your pet’s signs, symptoms and behaviors at home. All of these are like pieces of a puzzle that allow us to more clearly see your pet’s medical status.  We want for you to have peace of mind about your pet’s heal
